Open the flattened PDFs in Illustrator to adjust the Spanish text objects as needed. (Or, include a scripted button in the PDFs to enable the Reader using translator to flatten them.) Open the PDFs in Acrobat and flatten them. Send the set of PDFs to another department to have the callouts translated in the form fields, using Reader. Place Form Text Fieldi in front of text elements that need to be translated to Spanish. I have a set of wiring diagrams drawn in Illustrator, with a few callouts and labels scattered about, in English. So it seems that flattening form fields does not really convert their content to "normal" page elements.Or am I missing something? I've not been able to devise a workaround. However, if the PDF is then opened in Illustrator, the text of the flattened fields is absent. Maybe I need a real javascript to sign the document when approved, save it down to a jpg, rename the file appropriately, and drop it in the archive as a pdf since that is what the client desires.When I flatten form fields (text fields), they become disabled (no longer editable), and they print. For nearly 10 thousand forms a year its still not enough. I ahve been trying different things with the action wizard and I can shorten the steps involved by about 30%. This setting temporarily overrides the settings in the Layer Properties dialog box. (A layer is visible when the eye icon is present, and hidden when the eye icon is absent. To show a hidden layer, select the empty box. So what I need is a way to convert the interactive document to a completely flat ie " a screen capture" and save it to archive in a single move. Choose View > Show/Hide > Navigation Panes > Layers. Finally, click Save in the dialog box to complete the process. This will open a dialog box in which you can select the location in which you would like to save the flattened PDF. Once the interactive function of the document is completed there is no reason for it to be editable anymore as flattening allows. You can use 'Save As' in Acrobat to export the pages of a PDF to image files but you lose every possible advantage of the PDF file format. "There's no way to do that with one button, and quite frankly no reason anyone should be doing it.
